EmployeeSpotlight__Bruce

The people behind Renew Indianapolis are what make our organization amazing. Each person contributes their skills and talents to improve housing, economic development, and quality of life in the metropolitan Indianapolis area.

We got a chance to chat with Bruce R. Baird, Chief Operations Officer about his work at Renew as well as the lessons and values that drive him. Learn a little more about Bruce below.

What does your typical workday look like?

My typical day is working with our entire team to execute Renew’s mission. I work with our real estate and lending staff to implement our programs. Renew is a small organization so I also get to work with individuals who directly benefit from our programs and services.

What is your proudest moment at Renew Indianapolis?

When the Board of Directors of King Park Development Corporation and (former) Renew Indianapolis voted to merge in February of 2019. This was a complicated process to bring two organizations together, and each Board united with a vision of a more comprehensive community development for Indianapolis.

What are your hopes for the industry?

My hope is for community development to continue to be impactful in our city. We are fortunate to have leaders throughout our community dedicated to neighborhood improvement. I believe Renew can lead by example and raise the bar for real estate development and community lending that grows our business and enriches the lives of our residents.

What are the values that drive you?

Every person, regardless of status or income, deserves access to safe, decent, and affordable housing. Renew Indianapolis provides services that impact quality of life. We truly value members of our community and we work tirelessly to change lives.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned?

I’ve learned as a committed community we can improve our neighborhoods over time. My entire career has been focused on improving our core neighborhoods and I have witnessed remarkable change since embarking on this journey 35 years ago. My passion for this work has never diminished, and the rewards are many.
